Unfortunately some commercial advertisers and creators of fraud schemes thought this through and begged, borrowed, bought, or in some cases stole email lists of innocent netters (like you). They then sent unsolicited email to everyone on that list.
This method of junk advertising has unfortunately now graduated to the point where one can obtain software to not only send a spam message to those lists, but to every email client of every service provider in the world. These programs can also, to circumvent your complaining about it, hide the true senders return email address. Other spammers simply steal someone's email address and enter that as their own to prevent receiving angry returned email. Believe me on this. I have now had it done to me three times.
Please understand that I am NOT against commerce on the Internet. It has a place and, I feel, may contribute to the growth of innovation on the net, and indeed, the growth of the net itself. What I am against is unsolicited commercial messages in my email box, in the same way I am against junk mail in my snail mail post box (and yes, I get just as proactive about junk mail there as well).
"So what can I do to stop it?" I hear you ask. Visit the sites listed on this Spam Fighter page for a start. Read the information contained in these sites, download anti-spam software and use it to fight the spams, and join with others who are trying to stop this time wasting, unwanted and unsolicited junk mail that is clogging and slowing down the net, and which also amounts to an invasion of your privacy on the net and a waste of your internet resources. You pay for your presence on the net, and I doubt that you wish to also pay for unsolicited junk email to you selling everything from so-called Viagra (most likely made in someones garage) to almost everything up and down the proverbial list. I know I don't wish to pay for it, receive it, or want it in any form. Do you?
Now please, for your sake and the sake of your internet community and family, visit the sites listed below and help stop this email garbage now.
