Hello and welcome to Mac's Picks of the Week. If you are interested in why this site exists, how it operates, and a little about Mac, then click on the Why and How Info link and see what is there. When you have finished please return to this Home page and see what sites I have chosen this week to receive a Mac's Picks of the Week award. Thank you for visiting and please share this site with friends, family, and colleagues who you feel will enjoy it.

This page is updated on a weekly basis, each Monday Australian (Queensland) time (GMT + 10 hours according to the world clock). Please come back and visit often.

You'll be aware that I'm on a quest for delicious food from various countries in the world and each month plan on showing you something different from your normal fare to try. This week I tried finding recopies from Albania and to be frank, there aren't a lot. Having said that, the Margarita's International Recipes Albania Pule me arra page, which shows you how to make Albanian Chicken with Walnuts, looks like a really nice idea as a change. Give it a try and see what you think.

Most folk end up making their home page in their browser one of particular interest to themselves rather than the one set by their internet provider. They can vary from informative pages to starting out your day with a smile. One you might consider is the Daypop site as it's a little bit different than most. It's primarily a current events-weblog-news search engine so if you're interested in more information than you just listened to on the morning news, this might be a good place to start. See what you think.

Are you one of those who tries to repair or fix things around the home when something goes wrong or wears out? If so the DIY Home Improvement Information DoItYourself.com site is going to be worth a bookmark for you to refer to when the need arises. It has good sound advice and could end up saving you heaps of cash in the bargain in repair bills. Just remember if you get stuck, don't make it worse. Call in the professionals.

If you've been around computers for a long time, and the net for years as well, you may remember some of the games found on the DOS Games Archive Top 20 downloads site. If so you can download a copy of that long lost game that kept you going for days at a time and enjoy it once again. Should run on most systems today.

The thing about First Aid is that you're never going to know when you'll need it next. You could come across a need for it almost daily, but if you don't know what to do in an emergency you can't help anyone. Thus, take the time to read the Queensland Ambulance Service First Aid Hints site. Even if all you do is read it, you might be able to help save a life. Now that has to be good doesn't it?

I have been fighting a particularly nasty flu for almost 3 weeks and I can tell you my poor old body knows it's been through the mill. I'll start exercising again soon, but the trick is not to overdo things, just get mobile once again. Thus a site like the ExRx Beginner's Page site will prove to be particularly useful. To start with, if you take particular attention of the left column, you'll be on the road to recovery in no time. Great site to help you regain what you've lost.

I consider myself to be a bit of a photography buff, but occasionally I come across a site done by professionals that simply blows me away. One such site is the Image View - Liquid Sculpture site. The work that's gone into producing those shots is amazing. Play the slideshow and settle back for a wonderful experience. This is just ... nice. Isn't the net wonderful?

I love innovation and even more so when companies combine to make something useful for our species to enjoy. Thus, the Gardening For Kids site, which is from the Huggies Baby Club and Yates, the garden seed people, is a great idea and a lot of fun in the process. Teach the young folk around you to plant and nurture, rather than tear down and destroy. We all have to benefit from that. Great site.

And some young folk want to be just like mom and dad and big brother and sister and chat with friends, play games online, etc. However the majority of parents are also aware that some places dealing with things like chat are unsafe for children of any age to spend time in. However, all is not lost, not as long as you have sites like the Kids games, chat rooms for kids, plant babies, safe site for kids - KidsCom site still going. This is truly a safe, fun site for kids. Take your young folk with you and go there and look around yourself. Enjoy.

I don't usually take you to a news article about some concept being worked on, but the Embracing Real Life in Virtual Earth news article may be in your interest to read. The reason? The movie version of someone sitting in front of a monitor and typing direction instructions to someone half a world away may not be as farfetched as you think. Read this. It may well be in your future.

When you have to negotiate a new salary most of us have no clue how to do it effectively. If you feel you could use a brush up on your own technique you might like to read the Salary Negotiation and Job Offer Tutorial -- Map of the Tutorial and see what you can pick up. After all, it is your salary you're talking about. Think it through using this as a guide.

No doubt, at one time or another you've received an email from someone with a silly signature on the bottom, and wondered where they got it from. You might find that they simply visited the http--www.siglets.com- - stupid signatures site, copied one of theirs, and added it to their email signature block in their email program. For instance, I love this one and may adopt it myself: "It's God's responsibility to forgive Bin Laden... It's OUR responsibility to arrange the meeting!". Digital
Women - Women with their modems running...
