Hello and welcome to Mac's Picks of the Week. If you are interested in why this site exists, how it operates, and a little about Mac, then click on the Why and How Info link and see what is there. When you have finished please return to this Home page and see what sites I have chosen this week to receive a Mac's Picks of the Week award. Thank you for visiting and please share this site with friends, family, and colleagues who you feel will enjoy it.
This page is updated on a weekly basis, each Monday Australian (Queensland) time (GMT + 10 hours according to the world clock). Please come back and visit often.
It's getting that time of year when, like it or not, a lot of people start getting things together to give others. It may be the end of December, it may be February. The point is it's approaching. Thus it may well be time to have a look at the Free Craft Projects - Making Crafts And Kids Craft site and seeing if you might make something personal to give this year rather than buy it. Sure buying it is easier in some ways, but it's also a lot less personal. Have a look. You or the young folk in your household, might become inspired, and save some cash in the process. Enjoy.
Need something to keep those grey cells working during your next coffee break? Why not try the Famous First Lines Quiz and see how many you can get right. You may surprise yourself with your own knowledge. Then again ...
Some folk are blessed with cast iron constitutions, and can literally eat anything without it seemingly doing any damage or causing any problems. Others, however, find that they react to certain foods, and not in a nice way either. I suggest that you have a look at the Food Intolerance Network which has an amazing amount of info on food additives and how they might affect you. Good information to have handy - just in case ...
If you need a photo or other type of image for the project you're making, you might want to give the Image Search Engines, Directories and Collections page the once over, as it's written by Wendy Boswell at About.com who is considered to be the online guru of search engines. Wendy virtually lives in search engines and her picks of the top ones is always worth looking at. This should help your quest to find exactly the right image to use. Just remember copyright © laws do exist with most photos and drawings so it pays to ask for permission to use it.
If you have English as a second language, you should have a look at the English Glossary of Grammar Terms site. It's from the folk at UsingEnglish.com, and can help you understand this difficult language. Even if English is your mother tongue, you may well find this site useful. Give it a try. I've bookmarked it myself for my use as well.
While lecturing at the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand, and also at Griffith University here on the Gold Coast I grew to have great admiration for those who did the task of educating young folk on a regular basis. If you do that as your chosen profession you might like to hop over to The Educator's Reference Desk Resource Guides where you will find all manner of things to help you in your task, including lesson plans. This is a site all educators should have handy. Enjoy.
I'm a hot rod fan, and also a drag racing fan. I'm not obsessed with it, but it is great entertainment and you get to see some amazing cars, not only sitting there, but in action as well. Probably the most well known family in the sport of drag racing in Australia is seen at their Castrol Edge Team Bray Racing site. The amount of times this team has come first place is legendary, so if you're into fast cars, have a look at this site. You won't be disappointed. See you at the drags.
Need some online help taming that beast you're using to see my page? Then contacting the author of the Computer Tips From A Computer Guy site and asking for help might be a good idea. Plus, if you read his articles and instructions in past issues, you'll find a wealth of info you. Great site and worth a bookmark just to keep current.
If you've ever wanted to make a professional looking slide show of the photos you have, or make a presentation that will literally knock your socks off, then head over to the A N I M O T O the end of slideshows site and with very little expertise you'll be churning them out in no time, complete with sound. Yet another site I've personally bookmarked for future use.
A new, and very impressive website has just been launched called the eMedTV Health Channel and it's something you should have access to as well. There are some very good articles here and some very good and descriptive animations that will help you to understand the body and how it works. Our bodies are amazing in their complexity and this site helps to weave the path through all your questions. This is a great site and one to refer to when you have medical questions of any kind (in conjunction with seeing your doctor of course). Stay healthy and well.
As you may be aware I'm on a quest to find good recipes from various countries around the globe. One site that certainly looks tasty is the Cooks.com - Recipes - Argentina Food site. Cooks Com certainly houses many interesting recipes and they also categorize them in many different ways. Have a look. You might spark that "good food" interest in your house as well.
I'm one of those who enjoys reading off-beat things, especially if they are true, or at least have some possibility of being true. I guess that's the reason I chose the Amusing Facts site to end this week's update of sites. This site does include some very little known facts about almost anything, and I feel you'll enjoy your time spent there as well. Hop over and see if I'm right.

Rebecca Game of "Digital Women - Women with their modems
running...", is my web designer and a graphic designer who is superb to say the least. Her site, dedicated to women on the net, is worth seeing and bookmarking for future reference. If you are looking for links of interest to women, please visit her site. And if you need the best graphic designer on the planet, I seriously can't recommend her more highly. Oh yes, and when you visit her site, tell her Mac sent you. Thank you Rebecca. I am eternally grateful for your assistance and expertise. ;-)
Search my site to see if I have given a "Pick of the Week"' to any family friendly term you wish here. If I have you will be shown the page(s) it was listed on.
You can choose to search The Net or My Site via Google based on the "Family Friendly" content found on my site from here. The balloons show sites close to the content of my site.
