Hello and welcome to Mac's Picks of the Week. If you are interested in why this site exists, how it operates, and a little about Mac, then click on the Why and How Info link and see what is there. When you have finished please return to this Home page and see what sites I have chosen this week to receive a Mac's Picks of the Week award. Thank you for visiting and please share this site with friends, family, and colleagues who you feel will enjoy it.
This page is updated on a weekly basis, each Monday Australian (Queensland) time (GMT + 10 hours according to the world clock). Please come back and visit often.
If you've ever thought of writing your own blog or indeed, browsing those that are already written by others, have a look at Bloglines Search and you might even find those near you who share similar interests. This is indeed a blog search engine but worth having when looking for a blog on a particular subject. Have a look.
Security online is becoming more and more of an issue that should concern us all. One source of good information on security is found at the Schneier on Security site which does a very good job of covering security and security technology. If you never thought security mattered much online, think again and read this blog. A little techno for some folk but worth going through as you'll learn a lot about your own security.
Most of us have photos we wish to share with friends and family online. Sometimes getting them on a place where they can readily be seen by those you wish to see them can be a challenge. Thus the Slide site may well be the answer to this particular problem. Trust me, if you share your photos with friends and family online this is one site you need to see. It may well help in making those photos available in different ways. Have a look and try it out.
Need to do some form of renovation? Then a site like the Home Improvements, Renovations, Find a Tradesman - HomeImprovementPages.com.au site can be of invaluable help, especially if you live in Australia as I do. Hop over and have a browse. The information is still relevant though if you don't live in Aus the tradesmen's contacts may not be.
When did you last do a crossword? Are you good at it? If you feel it's a good challenge hop over to The Sydney Morning Herald Crossword and give it a try. Put that thinking cap on and see how well you do.
Many of us, as we get older, don't fancy joining a gym or going to one alongside those buff individuals that all seem to populate it. Thus the Workout Programs Workout Routines Workout Plans site may be just what you need to be able to keep reasonably fit at home. Have a look. You need to lose those love handles and replace them with a bit of tone don't you think? *smile* I know I do.
Finding a site that is geared more to the young folk, that is worthwhile and worth them visiting, can be a challenge. Thus, when I found the Live Search Club site, which is designed for students who don't get playing as a way of learning, I thought you should see it as well. It's fun, but it's also a learning tool. You never know - your young folk might enjoy learning after all.
Occasionally you may wish to send someone a rather large file, but are reticent to do so as the file and its download would fill up their email program and take all day to download that way. Therefore if you go to the Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire - Free Online Storage site, upload it there, then send an email to your friend or colleague telling them how to access it and download it at their pleasure, is a valuable idea. And each file can be up to 1gb in size as well. If you have a file that's larger than that put it on a DVD and snail mail it to them. *chuckles*
Do you have any idea how many dogs or cats similar to the breed you own there are in Australia? What about any other type of pet you may own? The PET NET site gives you good statistical information about pets in Australia and therefore may also be useful in that report you're doing for school. Have a look. There is a lot of information available here.
We get charged for so many things, the occasional freeware application might be good to have. Places like the Best Freeware Download site, which will search freeware downloads for the one you are looking for, is a great site to bookmark for future use as well. Hop over and see what I mean.
If you're a jazz lover as I am, you'll enjoy the site called Jazzpromo.com Free Music Downloads, Jazz MP3 Music, Jazz Music CDs, Jazz. And yes, it does as it says. It will show you good jazz performers and allow you to download some free mp3s of their music as well. That has to be good. Just remember to support these musicians as well by buying some of their music too.
When you need a break at the office, why not head over to the Flash Arcade, Online Games, No Registration site and play a little to relieve the tension? As it says, no registration so just go and pick a game and enjoy yourself. Oh, if you are actually in a work environment, I'd turn off the sound first if I were you *smile*.

Rebecca Game of "Digital Women - Women with their modems
running...", is my web designer and a graphic designer who is superb to say the least. Her site, dedicated to women on the net, is worth seeing and bookmarking for future reference.
