Hello and welcome to Mac's Picks of the Week. If you are interested in why this site exists, how it operates, and a little about Mac, then click on the Why and How Info link and see what is there. When you have finished please return to this Home page and see what sites I have chosen this week to receive a Mac's Picks of the Week award. Thank you for visiting and please share this site with friends, family, and colleagues who you feel will enjoy it.

This page is updated on a weekly basis, each Monday Australian (Queensland) time (GMT + 10 hours according to the world clock). Please come back and visit often.

I, like many, own an Apple iPod. Also, like many, I occasionally have something annoying happen with it. If you have one as well, are you aware that Apple has a site called Apple - Support - iPod - iPod (5th generation) Troubleshooting that is full of ideas how to solve the most common problems? If you have another version of this popular music and podcast player, back up a bit and try just going to Apple - Support and finding your own model. Great service when you need a hand.

Did you ever, or are you the type person who clips coupon codes and then goes and finds where to use them? Did you know that there are sites online that give you those codes? You might want to have a look at the Coupon Codes, Promotional Codes and Discounts at CurrentCodes.com site. No matter what you're in the market for you might just save a bit of cash by going here first. I think this one is worth a bookmark for returning to often.

Most of us maintain our vehicle by taking it to the neighbourhood mechanic. However there are indeed things you can do to maintain it on your own in between visits that cost you little or no money. If you hop over to the Maintaining your car - NRMA Motoring & Services site and browse around you'll find tutorials and explanations that may just make that old beast work a bit longer for you. Have a look.

If you shop online (and I do by the way) you really should have a look at the Catch Of The Day - More Than You Bargained For site. It has one product per day, and it sells it at massive discounts. However, once it's gone it's gone. They don't hold stock. So bookmark that one as well.

If you have some young folk looking for part time employment in the school holidays or maybe on weekends, point them in the direction of the Hippo site. It has listings for part-time and casual work in Australia, and really seems to be especially good for the young folk to browse through. Have a look.

English is, without doubt, the hardest language on the planet to learn. Thus sites like the English Grammar 101 site, which admittedly is a non-free site, is worth having a look at. For instance it is for language arts classes, alternative education settings, home schooling, individual study, and ESL courses. Even if you bought absolute full access, educators would pay a maximum of $60 per year. Sounds like a bargain to me. See what you think.

Almost every time you turn on the TV you are getting the message that we have to do something with our environment or we're not going to leave much for our children and grandchildren. The Xpeditions @ nationalgeographic.com site is worth a look as it covers everything from finding out what your "Human Footprint" is to seeing earth, wind, and fire (no, not the rock group) in action. We all need to be aware of this, so do please, have a look and join in the fight to save the planet.

When the young folk need a good search facility to help with their homework or study you might want to have them have a look at the KidsClick! Web Search site. The reason is that the KidsClick site is a web search page designed by librarians. Gotta love that. Pass it on.

All over the globe there are products that get recalled. The problem is that most of the time you and I never hear of what those products are. Thus, the site in Australia named Product Recalls Australia - Main page is a site that is worth a weekly look at least. I'd say bookmark this one and set up a reminder to have a look each week. Better safe than sorry.

Sometimes friends ask me if I know of a site that can do this or that, and most of the time I can find at least one that is suitable to their needs. However some of the sites are horrendously long and that seems a bit silly. Thus, I, and you can as well, use the TinyURL.com site. It is set up to shorten that long URL into a Tiny URL, thus the name. And, it's free to use as well. What more could you ask for? Bookmark this one.

The younger generation are, I am happy to say, on the whole well served and coming along nicely. For instance, I direct you to the site called The Wood Verdict for a browse and a read. This young man is a Melbourne teenage web guru for the popular Channel Seven Sunrise program and to be frank his site is well worth a look. He's an intelligent young man on the move so why not have a look at what he says? It's worth your time.

Have you ever been in that situation where you can't help overhearing other conversations, and they simply either make no sense at all or they literally crack you up? One person in the city of New York has a site simply named Overheard in New York The Voice of the City which is composed of snippets of conversations heard on the subway or street in New York. It can be a little strong in some places but still has to be one of the funniest things I've read in years. You have GOT to love listening in on the man/woman on the street. Enjoy.
