Hello and welcome to Mac's Picks of the Week. If you are interested in why this site exists, how it operates, and a little about Mac, then click on the Why and How Info link and see what is there. When you have finished please return to this Home page and see what sites I have chosen this week to receive a Mac's Picks of the Week award. Thank you for visiting and please share this site with friends, family, and colleagues who you feel will enjoy it.
This page is updated on a weekly basis, each Monday Australian (Queensland) time (GMT + 10 hours according to the world clock). Please come back and visit often.
I am a fortunate webmaster. Why? Because I'm married to not only a grammarian but someone who is the best secretary I've ever seen. Therefore, before I publish ANY page here it is proof read by my wife and corrections are made. However, not everyone has that facility. One site that might help those less fortunate than myself is the Online spell check - Orangoo Empire site. Not only will it spell check the word or words you put into it, it will also spell check any website if you give it the URL. That has to be useful. If you have a web site of your own, or plan on having one, I'd bookmark this site for future use.
One of the utilities you must have if you are going to take advantage of the many multimedia things online, is a program called RealPlayer. You can, of course, go to realplayer.com and download their trial version (which works for a limited time and then you pay for) or, you can follow the link provided by the BBC in an agreement with real player, and thus only get the free version (no longer easy to find on their site). Hop over to the BBC - Radio - Audio Help -the free real player and follow their link to the free version and also see how you too can listen to this well known media and news centre.
Most women wear scent of some kind. However how much do you know about how we smell things? And, are you aware of the processes that will make some scents last longer than others? Hop over to the osMoz - All on the perfumes site and sniff around a bit *chuckles*. It's amazing what you'll find.
If you're a photo bug (as I am) anything you can learn about using your camera to good advantage is a help. Thus, courses like the theyshootin Free Online Photography Course one is good to have handy. Try it out. You might learn how to do that tricky shot you want next time.
With one of the larger holiday seasons just past, many vehicles took a pounding and are in need of some TLC. Then the Car Maintenance must surely be worth a look? It contains a lot of information and can ultimately save you from the perils of wear and tear. Have a look. You might save some money in the bargain.
I admit that I love different and interesting food, but if you asked me to think of a dish I could have from the country of Brunei I'd pretty much be stumped. So, the site called Brunei main food dishes Asian recipes, which shows some interesting sounding dishes, wouldn't go amiss. Give some of these a try. It could really spark up that dinner party you're thinking of having.
So many folk enjoy doing crossword puzzles that almost every newspaper written has one in its pages. How about one that is not only online, but is by the folk at the Dictionary.com-Crossword Puzzle site? Those puzzles should be a lot of fun, I feel. If you're a fan like me, give this one a try.
One of the subjects that seems to baffle many students is the subject of geometry. Mind you, many adults are equally lost in this subject. Therefore the site called The Geometry Centre Welcome Page certainly sounds friendly enough, and who knows? You might actually conquer this form of mathematics as well with their help. Give it a try. You're never too old to learn.
Speaking of learning, many parents are faced with the dilemma of understanding how to help their children with homework but not do it for them. Thus the site called Helping Your Child With Homework is invaluable reading for any parent concerned about their child's education. Have a read and become a real help to your child.
When was the last time you took a survey? Or alternatively when was the last time you did a quiz? If you're looking for some diversion you might want to look at the QuizMeme.com - Quizzes, Surveys & Fun! site. It just might replace the water cooler as a place of enjoyment. Give it a try.
Speaking of challenges, a friend passed on the ProveYourLogic.com site and I must say it can be challenging. If you think you're logical about the way you think or do things, then you most definitely need to see this site. Enjoy.
It amazes me how superstitions tend to remain even when we say to ourselves "that really doesn't make sense". For instance, at exactly midnight on New Year's Eve how many opened and closed their front door to ease out the old year and ease in the new? Not many I trust, yet the superstition still exists. Hop over to the OldSuperstitions.com - Superstitions Database and not only marvel at those surrounding the New Year, but put in a term you wish to see and you'll find someone somewhere has a superstition about it. Interesting and informative site.
