Hello and welcome to Mac's Picks of the Week. If you are interested in why this site exists, how it operates, and a little about Mac, then click on the Why and How Info link and see what is there. When you have finished please return to this Home page and see what sites I have chosen this week to receive a Mac's Picks of the Week award. Thank you for visiting and please share this site with friends, family, and colleagues who you feel will enjoy it.
This page is updated on a weekly basis, each Monday Australian (Queensland) time (GMT + 10 hours according to the world clock). Please come back and visit often.
Every year a week long festival of Rock and Roll and Hot Rod cars is held here on the Gold Coast of Australia known WinterSun. In picture perfect weather, my wife and I always try to go one of the days when the Hot Rods are parked on the city streets of Coolangatta, and the photos at Mac's WinterSun 2007 Photos at Flickr are some of what we saw and admired. Have a look, and keep in mind that I wouldn't have photographed half of the cars on display there. If you were at WinterSun, or know someone who displayed their car there, you might want to pass on this link to them. Maybe one day you should join us here for this magnificent display.
In the more northern parts of the planet, the young folk are having a well deserved summer vacation. Though the outdoors will take up a large part of the summer's activities there will still be times when they wish to go online and maybe play the odd game or two. They may well enjoy those found at the HeadBone site. These are games for kids to enjoy, and possibly learn something by playing as well. Show it to them. There is no better way to learn than when you're also having fun.
If you are a frequent visitor you will know that I, like many on our little green/blue orb, am a diabetic. If you are as well, and live in the UK, then the Diabetes UK home page - Diabetes UK site is something you should have bookmarked and visit occasionally. If you know a diabetic, pass this one on.
Coupled with diabetes, I also have had a quadruple bypass operation, and recently was sent a site that describes the heart muscle and what it does admirably. You can have a look at the Heart - Movement of blood through the heart, The heart cycle and nerve impulses site for a much better understanding of what this vital organ does to keep us all alive. If you need to know about the heart, this is a great place to start your understanding. Pass it on.
Not only are diabetes and heart problems major problems in our society, but the growing physical size of our combined populations is as well. Almost daily you will hear talk of subjects such as childhood obesity and the necessity for diabetics and heart patients to exercise and lose weight. Thus the Home Exercise Programs Weight Loss site can also be of help to you and yours. Keep fit and trim - for your own sake.
We not only should maintain ourselves in general, we also can help to maintain our motor vehicles and thus save ourselves some money in the long run. Therefore, the site known as The Car Maintenance Bibles is invaluable as a resource to get to know all you need to know about that beast you drive, and how to maintain its health as well. Have a look and bookmark this site for future reference.
If you're looking for a particular musician online and who they have played with, you might want to have a look at the Music-Map - The tourist map of music site. In effect it shows you not only the musician themselves but an interesting list of who they were or are associated with. Give it a try.
Have you ever been deep in work and suddenly need to make a phone call to someone? Rather than searching around to find where you've put your mobile phone this time, you might want to simply hop over to Gizmo Call and make your call from inside your browser. Sound interesting? Have a look.
In many countries around the world at least one television channel is offered that is a little outside the mainstream, both in their programming and in some of their content. In Australia we have the Special Broadcasting Service - SBS Australia TV and if you look at their site you'll see that some pretty interesting stuff is there for you to see. It's not cable or satellite but it is interesting stuff.
Everyone, at one time or another, needs a new recipe to spark their family's eating. You might find that those in the household hints - recipe goldmine site will fill that admirably. Have a look. It might perk up your appetite.
If you have a pet you should also have a record of its health and when it last saw a vet. Normally we don't keep those but if you wish to then the free software at the Pet Health Software site should do an admirable job. Have a look. It's a good way to keep track of your pet's health.
We have a particular rugby series out here called "State of Origin" which, I am proud to say, Queensland has just won again. You can see some of the results on the ABC Sport - Home site. That site is a good indication of sport here in Australia. Have a look.
If you travel around the world it's a good idea to have a look at any local laws you should be aware of. The country laws strange bizarre world law data information ancient modern find law site, besides its confusing and somewhat long name, is a collection of some of the stranger ones. For instance, in one country, committing suicide is classified as a capital crime - punishable by death. How strange is that one? Have a look.
