Hello and welcome to Mac's Picks of the Week. If you are interested in why this site exists, how it operates, and a little about Mac, then click on the Why and How Info link and see what is there. When you have finished please return to this Home page and see what sites I have chosen this week to receive a Mac's Picks of the Week award. Thank you for visiting and please share this site with friends, family, and colleagues who you feel will enjoy it.

This page is updated on a weekly basis, each Monday Australian (Queensland) time (GMT + 10 hours according to the world clock). Please come back and visit often.

Teaching the young folk about music is a wonderful thing, and to be frank, I envy teachers who teach this particular subject. At one time it was to be my own career but life prevented that from happening. Having said that, those that do may find Instruments of the Orchestra is a site that may help in the classroom. If you aren't all that familiar with the instruments involved you may well enjoy this site yourself.

Speaking of teachers, the Teachnet.com lesson plans, teaching resources, education, teacher tips site will no doubt be a mine of information and ideas for any teacher to use. Sometimes simply making the next lesson plan is a difficult task, and this site may be able to help. Pass it on to any teachers you know.

Speaking of the younger folk, the gURL.com site is an interactive web site for teen girls. It keeps them up with the latest thinking on all manner of subjects. However a little caution is suggested. Though our children are growing up much sooner than we did, some things may not be deemed appropriate for discussion in all households. Possibly if they aren't in yours, you should ask yourself why not. *shrugs* Just a thought.

You no doubt have heard of sites that allow you to see video and even some television shows. However one site you should see is the ClipBlast.com - World's Largest Video Search site. If you are looking for a particular video or possibly one on a particular subject, this site may be able to find it for you.

Speaking of video, the All Movie Guide site has info on just about any movie you care to mention and it's not simply one movie producer that runs it. When they say All Movie, they aren't kidding. Here you'll find info on just about any movie around, plus be able to watch trailers from most of the larger studios. Interesting site but can it ever eat up time. *smile*

When travelling to a new country it would be helpful if you had a currency converter close at hand. Well, if you carry your laptop with you when you travel, then you have that kind of site at the XE.com - Universal Currency Converter site. Just enter the figure in the left space, pick what currency it is, and what currency you would like it converted to and it's done. Could be helpful on that long overseas trip.

I'm a coffee drinker. Indeed, many know my favourite kinds of coffee, including the local Starbucks, where I am so well known I don't even have to order any more. I know, it's boring but for at least half of the year I only drink one cold coffee drink, and they make it better than any other I've found. Having said all of that, the Trivia 101 - One Hundred One Trivia about Coffee! site is one I personally like and think you might as well. Enjoy.

Finding new and exciting recipes online is simple. Finding recipes by the top chefs may not be as easy. However if you go to the Free Recipes from Chefs.com site you'll find some that really do sound tempting. Have a look and see what you think.

Most of us either have a dictionary not far from our work desk, or a site that has dictionaries attached to it. You might find the ARTFL Webster Search site useful, but keep in mind it is using the 1913 edition of Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary as it's resource. Yes, that's right, the 1913 edition. That means that you won't find Google or the WWW in it anywhere but it is interesting to see the meanings of some words back then compared with their use now. Have a look.

All of us need a little help understanding something about our computers at one time or another. Therefore you may find the Help and Support for Microsoft products site a useful one to bookmark and keep. Do see the announcements on that site as well. Your help and support may have already expired.

A friend of mine, from the days when my family lived in New Zealand, was also the president of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club. I know he and many other bike enthusiasts will enjoy the Daytona Bike Week site. It contains some great photos of the participants and their bikes. Have a look and Kerry, this one is definitely yours.

Many folk have a hobby. Not all of them incorporate their own body as part of that hobby. However. to find the top moustache growers the Gallery of Contestants and Champions site was founded. If you thought there was only one kind of moustache, think again. Hmm - Why does the name Simon LeGree keep popping into mind? Have a look. You might even find him lurking here. *smile*
