Hello and welcome to Mac's Picks of the Week. If you are interested in why this site exists, how it operates, and a little about Mac, then click on the Why and How Info link and see what is there. When you have finished please return to this Home page and see what sites I have chosen this week to receive a Mac's Picks of the Week award. Thank you for visiting and please share this site with friends, family, and colleagues who you feel will enjoy it.

This page is updated on a weekly basis, each Monday Australian (Queensland) time (GMT + 10 hours according to the world clock). Please come back and visit often.

My wife recently bought one of Alison DuBois books and I am finding it fascinating. Yes, you've heard the name before, especially if you watch the television series titled Medium. That series is based loosely on her and yes, she is real. If you would like to see her site, hop over to Allison DuBois - Medium where you will learn something of the work she has done and continues to do. As many who visit my site know, we lost our precious youngest daughter Deidre 6 years ago and reading the latest of Alison's books has helped me immensly. It might help you as well.

Occasionally when you are online you may wish to sign up for a service or a site asks you to register so that you can take full advantage of their site. Putting in your normal email address can also, in some cases, open your email to more spam than you thought existed. One way around that is to hop over to the Temporary Disposable Email addresses and Email forwarding addresses for fighting spam site and take out a temporary email account to enter in place of your normal one. You then direct that email address to forward any email it receives to your real email account.. and if it is spam free, then all is well and good. If it's not, simply delete the temporary account and take out another. It's free and easy to do. Protect yourself.

If you've caught on to the blog bug but have no idea where to write yours and publish it so we can all hear your thoughts, hop over to the Blog.com Free your thoughts site and follow the simple directions. You have knowledge that we all could benefit from. Why not share it in a blog? Enjoy, and don't forget to let me know your blog's address too *smile*.

As you no doubt know, there are more and more search engines coming into being all the time. Some are very specialised and some simply take the work out of visiting half a dozen different search facilities to do your search. Have a look at the Info.com site. It is called a metasearch facility and displays results from 14 different search engines at once. That might make it easier to find what you're looking for. See what you think.

I'm a dedicated coffee drinker. Indeed, many of my friends brand me as a coffee nut. Thus I know that I, and possibly you as well, can gain some knowledge about this drink from the Coffee FAQ Coffee and Caffeine FAQ site. It does contain a lot of information, including exploding some myths about coffee and giving you fair warning of potential dangers as well. Have a look. Oh, and in passing, the term FAQ stands for Frequently Asked Questions.

Some might say that the USA is the home of the Barbecue. Others, like most Australians for instance, would disagree with that and would say that Australia is. (Does the phrase "Throw another prawn on the barby" ring a bell?). However, I must admit that the UK wouldn't normally spring to mind when thinking of a BBQ, but sure enough, there is a site called Barbecue Tips - from the UK that has some pretty handy tips on what sounds like a good barbecue. Have a look. It could spark up your summertime eating *smile*.

If you download music to play on your MP3 player and want to make CDs of the songs to use in your car as well, you need to convert the files from the .MP3 format to the .wav format. There is various software around that will do that job, but now there is an online site that will do it for you for free as well. Hop over to the mediaconverter.org - the free online file converter site and bookmark it for future use. You never know when you might wish to take advantage of this facility.

Australians and Kiwis are inveterate sports folk. If you wish to see the type of sport Australians are interested in, hop over to the Welcome to the Wide World of Sports site and have a browse around. Australia and New Zealand have a sporting rivalry that has gone on for decades, somewhat similar to the USA and Canada in some ways. Have a look. You might be surprised at what you'll find we love playing.

Recently someone emailed a website to me to look at concerning my Heart Links site. I will add this site to that page as I find the information given here to be clear and understandable. If it helps you to better understand the condition you or a friend or family member has then the Heart - Movement of blood through the heart, The heart cycle and nerve impulses site will have fulfilled its function. Have a look. When did you have yours checked last?

Are you a budding lyric writer? Need a nice jazz background to your compositions? You might want to have a look at the Jazz piano tracks minus one music tracks play along music jazz play along tracks Jam Tracks site and try out a few they have on offer. Who knows? You might write the next jazz standard. Enjoy.

Most of us have things that need attending to around the home. Thus, sites like the Household Hints - Kitchen Crafts 'n' More site can really end up saving you time and trouble. Why not bookmark this one for future use? You never know when that need will arise.

I love late night television. I must admit I'm more of a Jay Leno fan than a Conan O'Brian fan but the skit he did on his show, called Conan Visits Intel - Video @ Clipstr is a riot. I think you'll enjoy it too. Oh, and if you didn't recognise the name Intel, look at your computer. It most likely has a sticker on it telling you that the CPU (Central Processing Unit) is made by Intel. Enjoy.
