Hello and welcome to Mac's Picks of the Week. If you are interested in why this site exists, how it operates, and a little about Mac, then click on the Why and How Info link and see what is there. When you have finished please return to this Home page and see what sites I have chosen this week to receive a Mac's Picks of the Week award. Thank you for visiting and please share this site with friends, family, and colleagues who you feel will enjoy it.

This page is updated on a weekly basis, each Monday Australian (Queensland) time (GMT + 10 hours according to the world clock). Please come back and visit often.

Most of us need a good chuckle once in a while. My wife has a particular favourite cartoon character she gets each day. If you've never really gotten into Dilbert, The Dilbert Blog is one way of doing it that's kind of neat. Give it a try. It might just spark your day.

Having two grandsons aged five and under, I want to make sure they are as safe online as possible. Thus the Kid Safe Internet My Kids Online Browser looks like a good thing. I've downloaded it and installed it on my machine for their use when they visit PomPom. You might like to have a look for your young ones as well.

Converting files into PDF format for ease of transmission and storage is a task originated by the folk who originated the whole idea of pdf files, Adobe. There are numerous pdf creators now available and I've found that Woody's PDF Handler is not only as good as any other, but it's free to download and use as well. Have a look. It could be what you're looking for.

There are various people online who blog and who are worth keeping track of and Woody's no-bull news, tips and help for Windows and Office. blog is one of those. This one is well worth bookmarking and returning to again and again.

Read any good books lately? One of my personal favourite bookstores now has an online presence, and it's called Borders - Home. Borders has the books I like, the music I like, and the store is always such a comfortable place to shop. Have a look if you're interested to while away those hours. And yes, I know it's commercial but it's worth a look as well.

Maybe you would rather have a read of a blog written in a specific country? If so, the Browse Blogs by Country at Blog.com should be able to find it for you. It looks for blogs in the country you specify. Nice idea.

And why not start your own blog? It's a great way to share your thoughts, feelings, insight, etc. There are lots of folk who are interested in what you think, feel, etc. So jump on the bandwagon and share your thoughts at Free blog hosting in three easy steps - Blog.com. Oh, and don't forget to let me know when you do so I can have a read as well. *smile*

If you've taken the plunge into Vista as I have, sites like the Free Vista Drivers - RadarSync site are going to be worth their weight in gold to you. I'm amazed at how many manufacturers live in caves. How else does one explain a lack of drivers for hardware and software when there has been three years trumpeting of the fact that it's coming? Bookmark this one for that day when you upgrade.

Speaking of upgrading, how up to date is your software? Do you have the latest version or patches to the software you run now? To check hop over to the Software Inspector - Secunia site and run their free scan. Not a bad idea. I did and even I found some updates, and that's on a brand new system. See what you think.

Have you ever had a task where you wanted to rename a LOT of files (most likely photos) and wish there was a bulk renaming facility to do it all at once? Well, there is. Go to the PFrank Home Page - Freeware Bulk file renaming utility site and you'll not only find one that works, but it's free as well. That has to be a bonus.

If you're a Yahoo messenger user (and yes, I still feel it is the best and most stable of all the chat messengers out there bar none) you will know that there are emoticons that you can send along as well in your chats. Did you know there are a lot more hidden ones? If you look at the Hidden Emoticons - Yahoo! Messenger with Voice site you'll see there are, and simply printing out the list and typing in the emoticons will produce wonders. One can only hope that in future Yahoo will automatically integrate new ones into its own software for easier access.

Hands up all of those who enjoy cute kids. I know I enjoy watching my grandsons and I got a real kick out of seeing one at Google video who I think you'll enjoy as well. Have a look at James Hula Hoopin' - Google Video and I'm sure you'll agree he has a career in dancing coming up. Well done. Enjoy.
